Event Results Conformation is a competitive event open to purebred dogs, designed to evaluate a dog's external appearance and structure as it compares to a breed standard. The breed standards describe the ideal qualities measurable through movement, appearance, and temperament of each breed.

What is conformation and configuration?

Conformation is the set of possible shapes a molecule can have by means of rotation about single bonds only. Configuration is the relative position of the atoms in a molecule that can be changed exclusively by cleaving and forming new chemical bonds.

What is conformation with example?

1. A conformation of an acyclic molecule is a specific disposition of atoms in the molecule in space within the molecule due to free rotation around bonds. eg: ethane (CH3CH3)

What are the types of conformation?

Conformational Isomers

  • Eclipse conformation. Conformation in which hydrogen atoms attached to two carbons areas nearest to each other as possible is known as eclipsed.
  • Staggered conformation.

What is conformation in stereochemistry?

Conformational analysis is the study of the arrangements of groups of atoms in a molecule and the energy associated with those arrangements. As the groups of atoms rotate around various carbon-carbon axes the different shapes they take are called conformations. Conformations range from eclipsed, to gauche, to anti.

What conformation means?

conformation, any one of the infinite number of possible spatial arrangements of atoms in a molecule that result from rotation of its constituent groups of atoms about single bonds.

What is conformation in animals?

Conformation is the desirable and undesirable skeletal and muscular structures of an animal. It covers all of the important areas of an animal's structure, from the legs, the spine (or top-line) and the hind quarters to the neck and head.

Is conformation a dog sport?

Dog Sports The official term for dog shows, Conformation events evaluate dogs by how closely they resemble their breed's standard.

What does conformation mean?

Definition of conformation 1 : the act of conforming or producing conformity : adaptation. 2 : formation of something by appropriate arrangement of parts or elements : an assembling into a whole the gradual conformation of the embryo. 3a : correspondence especially to a model or plan. b : structure.

What does conformation in dogs mean?

The official term for dog shows is conformation — as in, the act of conforming or producing conformity. While a dog show may look like a beauty pageant, it's not. Dogs are not being compared to each other; they're being measured by how closely they conform to the standard of their particular breed.

How is conformation judged?

Under the trained eye of a conformation judge (breed expert), each dog is evaluated against the breed's written standard. The judge examines each dog and places them according to how closely each dog compares with the judge's mental image of the perfect dog (as described in the breed's official standard).

What do you mean by conformation?

1 : the act of conforming or producing conformity : adaptation. 2 : formation of something by appropriate arrangement of parts or elements : an assembling into a whole the gradual conformation of the embryo.

What is the difference between confirmation and conformation?

Conformation should not be confused with confirmation, which means showing the truth or accuracy of something. The two words do have similar religious meanings though. Conformation refers to complying with the rules of a church, while confirmation means a person's full entry into the Christian belief.
