A dog house should be approximately 25 percent taller than your dogs total height and should not be more than 50 percent taller than your dog's total height.

Meaning, feeding medium size dogs that are rarely active a high energy formula will result in an obese dog. In this case you'll need to ration the amount fed, feed less frequently, or switch out to a lower caliber food such as quality adult large breed, or mid breed maintenance formula.

As a rule of thumb, a dog whose adult weight will be over 100lbs is usually considered to be an extra large dog.
