Petland claims that they only buy from breeders with “the highest standards,” but the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) has found that they continue to buy from known puppy mills and out-of- state brokers that deal with puppy mills.
America's largest chain of puppy-selling pet stores, Petland Inc., is also the nation's largest retail supporter of puppy mills. There are more than 200 Petland stores worldwide, with about 140 in the U.S. Collectively, these stores sell tens of thousands of puppies each year.
However, the price for those puppies can often be quite expensive. The average price for a puppy at Petland costs between $2,000 and $10,000.
As the only national pet store chain in the United States that still sells puppies, Petland is also the largest retailer of puppy mill dogs. While Petland claims their puppies come only from reputable breeders and are in good health, our investigations have proven otherwise.
